Charlotte Learned How to Choose the Best Essay Prompts to Elevate Her Application Narrative and Stand Out in the Admissions Process

Admit:
University of Chicago
UChicago is world-renowned for its outlandish and creative supplemental essay prompts.
As Charlotte’s first-choice school, she felt a little lost while shuffling through her choices. She sought us out to help her select the prompt that would uncover who she is while tying her response to the rest of her application documents.

Challenge

Charlotte felt a little lost in choice and wasn’t sure which prompt would best tie in with her application narrative – an application that portrayed her strong sense of justice, communication skills, and leadership. Many students may feel intimidated by colleges that offer them choices, such as the UC system and UChicago.

How Did Quad Education Help?

We helped Charlotte choose a prompt using our applicant persona process, her input, and evaluating her application materials to identify new sides of herself she could share with the admissions committee.

We used the persona assessment to identify her key strengths, then did a mapping exercise to see which strengths were being captured through the existing application documents, such as her personal statement and activity list. We found that her leadership experiences as a lifeguard/swim instructor and math tutor were missing. We identified a meaningful narrative that showcased her strengths and chose an essay prompt that helped highlight that story. Our expert insight into the UChicago application process helped her choose the best-fit prompt as we worked with her to evaluate creative, one-of-a-kind answers.

Charlotte was thrilled to be admitted to UChicago through EDI.
